I can go through lots of snow with the Focus. Problem I have is it likes to sit on top of it. So when I spin it digs down an there I am sitting on top going no where. Why on earth would you want to do that to your car? Isn't there a point where you say to yourself "It's really not safe for me to be on the roads at this point"? If you MUST, perhaps a more appropriate car with chains on?
