A couple of owners have been successfull getting ford to buy back their car. These issues have been in the news and have affected Ford's consumer ratings in some cases (consumer reports). My tech reported a number of worn elements in the transmission parts he replaced (worn out after 14k of light city / highway driving). So yes - there is obviously a desighn flaw - we just don't know how serious it is - I'm hoping clutch replacement fixes it cuz otherwise, I love my car.
My point was that the only known recurring transmission problem is a leaking seal. The vast majority of "DCT problems" are directly related to the clutches (which are often contaminated with oil). In most cases, replacement of the seals and clutch assembly will do the trick.
