There seems to be a lot of debate on whether it helps visibility or not. The arguments against it helping visibility are; if it is a film, you are limiting the amount of light coming from the bulb because it is a tint... if you put a yellow bulb in, usually the bulbs are less watts so it is actually emitting less light than a standard bulb.

If anyone can add to this discussion, please do, I would like to know more myself.

Also from what I have read is "yellow" light does not cut through fog any better than "white" light. Fog is dense enough to cause both color spectrums to be reflected the same.
