you don't need rustproofing or 'undercoating'... cars' metal is far more resilient against salt and chemicals that cars of just 10 or 15 years ago. Simply go into winter w/ a well waxed car and during the winter keep it as clean as possible --- hand wash preferable but auto car wash when no other alternative. the important thing is to make sure u hose down the underneath , esp the wheel wells and wheel well lips to wash away accumulated mud and salt. When washing make sure u clean the bottom of the doors.. The weld there is a major 'home' for rust starting. I've had a 11 yr old zx3 w/ ZERO rust on it and before that a white excort for 10 years with zero rust by following my recommendations above. good luck.
