Yeah, 235,000 miles, consuming oil at an accelerating rate (not necessarily steady, but sometimes it was better or worse, unknown state of wear on the clutch (car had 191,000+ miles on it by the time got it and I'd put over 44000 miles on it without changing the clutch. The brakes were starting to get soft and mushy by the end (could have rebuilt them or had them replaced however the body was also pretty much rotting out from behind the rear wheel arches and the cancer was spreading to the floor pan in the front and elsewhere.
Old car was a 1994 Geo Prizm LSI 1.6 L i4 that when new made 105 hp, and was backed by a 5 mt. If it had survived at least through this winter and through to next spring I may have waited, saved a bit more and gotten the ST instead, but I really prefer the color of my '12 personally.
Unfortunately my grandfather has suffered a stroke, but is doing better than he was soon afterwards, but he was the reason I even bought the car in the first place, him having retired from ford and qualifying for Z plan rather than x that I might have qualified through various jobs I've had over the years.
He had already personally helped to sell three cars this past year, two Foci as my younger brother also wanted one, and a 2013 Escape 1.6L EcoBoost SEL to replace my uncle's old Cruze Eco which at 44,000 miles or so started to kill either the fuel pump/ lines/ etc or the PCM and would cut out and stall. Good old GM quality. He'd only had the car about a year but drove a whole hell of a lot of miles by then.
Of course my dealership experience has been terrible post sale, and even esclating things with FCS went nowhere because the regional manager only listens to the dealer's lies, not the facts from the service manual, or physical evidence that the car had not been in an accident when talking about their crappy alignment job of the headlamp on the lh side to start with as well as the tail lamp rubbing.
Basically they willed me to have an accident, and unfortunately it happened, but only on the other side of the car. That's been a nightmare as well even with a different Ford dealer repairing the car. They continue to try and give it back to me with things wrong with it. First they gouged the paint on the bumper cover putting the grille in, didn't touch up the chip in the hood from the lh head lamp, there was gap and paint issues on the bumper cover, still might be where they repainted over things again or something, idk, as well as the aero shield/ felt undertray being bent on the right hand side, I've told them at least 2 or 3 times about it and each time they call to tell me the car is ready its still bent on the right hand side and I can see a gap where air will catch it and drag = worse fuel economy than before = why should I accept this?
Its bad enough the insurance company is screwing me over on the repair by using reconditioned as well as aftermarket parts, (the bumper cover should be a ford part afaik, just probably off a wrecked car or something since it was cheaper). At least I'm not renting a car, but if I hadn't booked one they wouldn't have had a loaner car.
