Despite having 18's, the suspension is firmer, but not harsh in anyways. I've hit lots of hard ice ruts and snow hits and rocks this year already and its totally fine. I'm running 195/65/15 snow tires now though, its not sports car firm the sport package, its a really nice mix between comfort and handling, I recommend it fully.

the 18's and PS3's offer quite a lot of grip, its worth it then run a dedicated snow tire in the winter. Block heater is good, keep it in the garage over the winter if you can too, helps up here where its known to get quite cold.
They did offer them in 2012, maybe not when you got your car, but after Job 2 (3/5/12) they were starting to offer a 5MT as a no cost option on the Titanium in the U.S. and a $1000 credit or so in Canada over the DCT.

Now for 2013 all the model trim levels that have gasoline engines are available with a manual transmission, S, SE, Ti, are available with the 5mt, and ST is 6MT only
