Im a car detailer, 5 days a week working full time. I can tell you that the way we wash at work is by starting with the rims first using meguiars wheel brightner, it's hydrodiflouride acid, which just eats away brake dust without harming the rim itself. Then using a pressure washer we rinse the car from top to bottom removing any surface debris. Mitt the car using whatever floats your boat, I use a sheep skin mitt, then hose down again. To dry I use a California blade, medical grade silicon squeegee to get off most water, then I use an air compressor with a blow tip attachment. After all the water is from the cracks use a towel, I like microfibers, to dry off any excess water. Make sure you dry out your door and trunk jams, no one likes rust.
