Incorrect, the key should have remained in her pocket or purse at all times. It's her own fault. There is NO reason to have that key outside of the purse or pocket unless you are trying to get into your home, and that key in on the same key ring.

The Focus always beeps loudly and shows an on screen warning message when the key fob is no longer present in the vehicle while running. Obviously the warning was disregarded, and no offense OP, but....
