Everyone is complaining like Ford has NEVER made two cars that look similar to each other...
The 1996 Ka was the first "New Edge" car from Ford.
Resulting cars with the NewEdge language in order of appearance were
-Mondeo
-Puma
-Falcon
-Focus
-Cougar
-Mustang
-Taurus
-Windstar
-Explorer
They didn't all look identical, but the design language was the same. Trapezoids and right angles abound!
Before that, every Ford in America looked like a Mustang or an F-150 and every Ford in Europe looked like a Mondeo.
Its the way automakers work\. Its why every Chevrolet has the same stupid bowtie grille or every Dodge has the crosshair grille.
Brand image is important.
The Edsel is a good example of why image branding is the most successful way to sell cars.
The Hyundai Eqqus is a massive sales flop in America because it doesn't have any recognizable Hyundai design elements. It doesn't even have a Hyundai badge on it.
