My focus as well as my last car was supposed to have lock out protection.. BUT... both of them have the ability to lock the keys in the car if something isnt quite right somewhere... I've done it myself, thankfully the spare was in the house and i was at home...
So i never shut the door with the keys in the car unless one of the windows are down..
