As a set of parts that can all be changed at the same time for the same price as the tune, it's a great first step as long as the surging isnt driving him crazy so far and plans to continue upgrading the car. If he has the $400 now, then he can get toms with his tax return. ~.^
If you're only ever going to do one thing to the car - Tom's tune. Hands down.
I'll agree that the TB does help with throttle control and makes it seem more responsive. I did enjoy that on my car too.
the SRI absolutely flows worse than the stock box/snorkle. there are dyno graphs that show/prove the car loses power when switching from a stock box to SRI even with a tune.
it does sound louder and its only a couple hp loss so if you prefer the noise of the SRI then go for it...
but if max power is what you want keep the stock intake and spend the money on something else that will actually gain power...like a HFC or ORP.
