The iPod manual reset is to cycle the lock switch once(off-on-off), then hold center button and menu until you see it begin to reset. It takes a minute or so to reboot once you've successfully reset.
Your Sony 10 speaker has it's own power button, it's next to the CD slot.
All 3 of my iPods have locked up with every vehicle installed unit they have been attached to(pac oem adapter in Corvette, JVC deck in Subaru, Kenwood nav in Corvette, Sony/MFT in Focus).
