Don't feel too bad. I recently moved from Florida back to Michigan, drove straight though with lots of cargo, my dog, and two bikes up top as well. With being weighed down as such, which was my real gas killer couldn't do anything about it

... I averaged around 28-28.5mpg for the entire trip, about 1200 miles (same as you). That's just my "data" relating to gas mileage, but as far as a comparison, don't know if anyone on here with the other racks have done long trips!
