Once the ST is out and all the kinks have been worked out of the new models, I will consider trading up, but the transmission problems, paint problems, steering wheels rusting, my ford touch problems, wiper motor problems, "clunk" problems, lower than expected fuel economy problems, lack of aftermarket support, price of the car with everything I wanted on it, etc... These were all factors that prevented me from justifying the purchase of a new one when I was shopping for cars.
I'm really happy with my 2011 SES. It cost me $13k after trade-in and rather than how my Mustang cost $30+ a week to drive in fuel costs, The Focus takes around $40 every two/& a half weeks. Sync works great, the sound system is great, the transmission is great, the interior is great, the fun-factor is great, its light and fun to toss around an autocross course, plenty of aftermarket parts since they are mostly shared with the previous generation of Focus, its just an all-around better car IMO.
I'd love a 2012, but not until Ford gets it perfect.
