For anyone else you do not have to remove the entire mirror. there are 3 tabs holding on the back "cover" part of the mirror that ses owners have painted. You simply turn the mirror all the way to one side then you can pop off the outside tab with a flathead

It is the part that is wrapped in the above picture, you can wrap it then pop it right back on
