I do prefer smooth-shifting gearboxes, but I still run no counterweight, and an extremely lightweight delrin knob. Gets the job done for me - since I find the best way to have consistent & quick shifts is to be able to feel the gates in the knob.

Maybe I should play with the stacking washers sometime.
