1 kill and I almost got killed
I'm really doing good about staying away from the stret racing thing but sometimes people just strike a nerve and get served. This was my only race this month so I thought it was cool. Anyway, rolling down a four laner through the east side just cruising at the speed limit and when I pull up close to this Eclipse he drops the hammer and tries to walk my car. I thought that was rude so I drop a gear and easily get 3 cars on him and shut down. We both stop at the light and on green he tries again and I had to switch lanes, come up behind him and then pass him and get about two cars on him before the next light. I'm done playing with the asshat and he pulls up next to me at the light. I'm not even paying attention to him but my passenger was looking and tells me this joker just shot me a bird. I look at him and see this skinny little punk so I open the door to tell him that shit isn't cool and he takes off right thru the red. Thankfully there was no traffic. Also I'm not familiar with the Eclipse so I didn't notice what model it was, RS. So I get home and check the spec's on it, looks like it's the POS of the Eclipse line. Well I killed it anyway.
Now me almost getting killed, lol. There is a strip of highway that runs along the Front Range that no cops ever patrol that I like to do my top speed runs. Little or no traffic and in a canyon so there is nowhere for the cops to hide and shoot radar. I usually run it during the early morningm like 2:00 but I was travelling on it about midday and remembered that I hadn't made a run with the T/B and intake yet so I go for it. Run a few miles south looking for police then turn around and head north for my run. I pop over a hill at 115 and sure enough there is a cop on the other side travelling south, crap. Look in the rear view and see him braking as I'm doing the math to see what this ticket will run, about $600 mind you. I'm really close to base (military) and he has to travel about a 1/2 mile further south and take a 360 off ramp, travel over the highway and make another 360 on ramp to come my way becaus the center of the highway is fenced. I never saw him turn around but he was getting some good brake dive so it looked like I had his interest. I slowed down real hard and did the limit for about a 1/4 mile, pulled onto base and quickly hid in a stockyard that I could view the gate from. Never saw the cop pull up to the gate so after about 30 minutes I went to the other side of base and took some backroads home and parked the car in the garage. Just being stupid and almost paid for it.
