I think the point people are trying to make is that DSG or "Dual Clutch" transimissions are not "true automatics."
These types of transmissions are common all over Europe, so I am used to the "shuddering and the rattling" or the "hesitation sensation of it seeming like it's going to stall" it's common and once it's broken in you should notice a difference in driving.
