You should do just fine with a stock car. Hopefully the car hasn't been lowered and you have some resonably fresh shocks on it. Remove all loose items from the interior and trunk before going to an event (includes things like floor mats, etc). Air up the tires a little. I like carrying a portable air tank with me so I can play with pressures a little but a plug in inflator will work as well. On a soft dirt course you want a little more air to prevent from rolling a tire off the wheel. An all season tire with an aggressive tread or a snow tire can help but if it's your first time, you can make anything work. Use your first event to get use to the car and then go from there preparation wise.
