Depends on the area. Typically, around MacDill, its pretty expensive. That is where Davis Island (richies) live. Now, living close by USF, stuff is halfway decent. For $700+ a month you can get a decent 1 bedroom apartment. If you can, see about getting a townhouse/condo. If your military, there are VA loans that are very good right now and with the first time home buyer stuff, there almost isn't a better time. I know this because I'm contracted by Jacobs and know several people in Reserves, I work for the USGS however. Good luck with the living search.
