Conventional wisdom says to get your first oil change in the first 1000-1500 miles to get rid of the break-in shavings. It's always a safe bet to change your oil, it's never going to hurt the car. Maybe your wallet, but not the car. I changed mine for the first time at 1500 and plan on every 3500-4000 after that. The manual says 5000, but call me old-fashioned, I believe in changing it around 3000, so I'll split the difference with Ford.
