Colorado emission standards?

I will be moving out to Colorado in a few years once I finish my Master's degree (plans are coming together nicely). I'm pretty excited about that. I'm hoping the Denver area or somewhere just North of there. I guess excited isn't really the word, maybe I should say I feel like a kid who knows Christmas is a few days away.

ANYWAY, what should I expect from the emission Nazis in Colorado. I've had the JRSC for 5 years now and have been thinking about switching to a turbo build. I'd like to know how strict emissions are so I know to either keep what I got or move on to a turbo. Thanks guys.

You will be fine. I ran a dsm on 110 octane(running lean) and had no problems passing. Just make sure you have your cat on. They use mirrors now. Good luck and come out to the next meet! Nice to have you in colorado. See ya.

That's if they even test you, lol.

Yeah, pretty much just have a good working cat and you are in the clear. They put up these RapidScreen vehicles along the highways and thats how they generally test. If you flunk your drive by, then you have to go in to get inspected.

I have an 02 with JRSC BBK and a high flow cat, never had an issue.

That's good. I wasn't quite sure how strict they were. It looks like a high flow cat will be one of the next things to buy then.

I'll be in Estes Park this August for vacation with the family. I think it'll be somewhere near the 9th. My wife and son have never been out there so I'm sure she'll be impressed. We live in Dover, Delaware now, so this will be quite a change of scenery for them. Hell, a hill of more than 20' will be impressive to them.

Yeah, I grew up in the Atlantic City area and it was definitely a little bit of a culture shock moving out here. The mtn's just don't seem real at first ... you just stare at them in awe. Pocono's are like a foothill out here.

Estes is a cool little touristy town, but make sure you drive through Rocky Mountain National Park and take the ride along the top of the peaks ... it's sick!

What is your degree in / what type of work are you looking for? Denver area will most likely have more to offer. Ft. Collins is cool, but mostly a college town. If you aim for the Denver >> Boulder area you will have lots of options.

The whole reason I wanted to go to Estes Park is because it's right at the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. My wife has never been to a National Park before, so I figure we'd go my favorite one.

My BA and MA will be in Transportation and Logistics Management. Denver is about perfect for the type of work that I like. I work for a Budweiser Distributor right now and I know they have a presence out there as well. In three years my son will be graduated high school (and I'll be 34! does it get any better than that? I didn't meet him until he was 7 though). I'll be done with my degrees as well.

One downside about Estes, gas prices average about $0.50 more a gallon there than they do in Denver and the Springs.

I'll only be in Estes Park for week, so it shouldn't be that big a deal. I'm already going to spend a few grand on the vacation. One point of this trip is to check out the entire area from Fort Collins on down to Denver. We'll be back there every year until we finally move. I'm hoping the economy starts turning around by then. That's my only fear right now.

If you move to the Fort Collins area, they don't require emission testing. That's is why I am running an ORP with a powerworks.
