Question Utahns Exhaust Question

Does anyone in Utah have an aftermarket exhaust setup on their cars? I'm looking to purchase a catback exhaust and a header but I'm having issues keeping it legal in our area.

What do you guys do to keep your car registered in Utah?

I've had a few friends tell me to just buy the header and exhaust and keep the stock header and put it in before I get my emissions done. I've also had people tell me to get the header, exhaust and a hi flow cat and to weld the cat to the piping.

Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

They do offer a SVT header setup for ZX3, Its emission legal and is the best legal setup u could possibly get for ur car. Its pretty expensive for the setup, but I have heard Mike to help get u the best price for it. Thought this helps, good luck.

An SVT setup won't work on a Duratec engine.

.....and what would you do, swap headers again before your next emissions?

I'm actually curious, here, as to what Utah defines as illegal.... does it go that as long as the car has a cat and all sensors function properly, and all other basics things, they pass it?

I don't know Utah law, but, if they have a visual inspection, then you're screwed if you change things.

^^ no worries. what company is that? i'm very interested. i had a friend tell me that if you take your car to a smaller county they don't do the visual inspection. he had to do it with his old civic si cause he didnt' have a cat at all and he got it passed. as far as i know from what some other sources have told me, as long as you have a cat and the sensors function prperly you should be ok.

and yes, i could swap the headers again. my emissions doesn't have to be done till october. so it gives me a while to do it. i wouldn't keep it like this forever though. only until i find another solution. like buying a hi flow cat and getting it welded to the piping.

i tried asking the dmv if they knew and the guy referred me to another office. i might try to call them tomorrow and see what they say. i'll post up as soon as i find out.
