Very close Vince it sure does look like it. (well hey I'm on my iPod, but at least I can zoom in)

btw I'm not trying to be a know it all dick if it even ocurred to anyone lol.

It's actually where the oil filter is, and it's one of those annoying actual filter elements, not the whole unit but the actual paper part, deal... Lol. Hey at least that's easy to get to though. Oil changes are easy lol.

But notice how the plug wires are all tucked under that plastic "M3" cover? Yeah...

It's a canister oil-filter. A lot of cars have them now. I know for that all ford diesels and a few Hyundai's do that. Not sure if it's good or bad, but it looks like that's the way that a few companies are going.

^^ when they're up above like that, they're not bad at all..... it's when they're positioned under the car either at a 45 degree angle or straight up and down, that they become an issue, since the cap is screwed on, and all the oil comes out at once. LOL

pointing my finger at Audi and VW.....

Have you ever seen the ones on 4 banger Fusions or on the Mazda 6's? They are upside down and have a allan head screw to remove to drain the oil.

I have not...... don't USUALLY get many newer cars at the shop. the newest was that 06 impreza which was just here for tune up and I/M readiness (hence the drive cycle :))
