15.71 stock SVT timesheets & vid
1 Attachment(s)
video will be coming tomorrow or wed but i made it to the track and i didnt lose my timesheets!!! Didnt win a single race but for a stock SVT i was happy with the times...Had a busy weekend with prom and graduation party but i figured I'd post it...I wanted to get into the 15.6 oh SO bad but i just COULDNT do it...

TIP: see the drastic difference from the first three runs and the last 4...wanna know wat i did!?!?! Somebody at the track told me to put a bag of ice on my intake manifold in between races...I WAS SHOCKED a half a second just because of a $1.50 worth of ice!
However isnt that aluminum?!?!? i was thinking if it gets heated up and cooled down repetedly will it hurt it?!?!

anywat enjoy the print outs and ill get a vid of me getting whooped by a mercedes i think it was like an s500 or somm like that it was dark!

sorry if this is hard to read but Im car 485

Wow, those are badass times for a stock svt. At what Sea level are u at? just wondering? Im surprised about that ice bag tho, on OUR cars. 5.0s and SS Camaros ive done that with but hmmm.

15.7 is pretty standard for our cars. I've definitely seen faster times by a stock SVT. but good work regardless!

Decent - looks as though once you got it in the 15s you were very consistent. Nice driving. I went last Friday (in the middle of a heatwave here - around 90 F/30 C) and I had only 1 run as as soon as I shifted into 2nd (not even that hard!!), my shift linkage popped out and I had no gear selection AT ALL!! I had to coast down the track, pick up my timeslip, and push my car about 4 blocks outside the racetrack to get it to an area to be towed to my dealer. Luckily, it was a quick fix as it was ready today at noon (!!) and runs better than before...apparently, the linkage was loose and one good hard shift knocked it out!! I'm heading back next Friday to redeem myself and run better than my.....24 second quarter mile LOL!!!!

yea i've seen faster but i just cant get those 15.6's myself I was tryin tho, what helps us (SVT guys) out alot is we don't have to shift to 4th we cross the quarter in third! I'm not sure what sea level I'm at I'll have to look into it but I'm not in the mountains or anything...when i get home today ill put a link to that video of me vs. a mercedes he ran the 14's against me on the slips. yea it seems to me that driving isnt really the issue with me my car JUST WONT GO ANY FASTER!!! (of course not without modding it!) I mean i'm not the best driver because this was only my second time at the track but as far as reaction time and 1/4 mile times they are consistant. Bad news about that linkage but at least its fixed. also is 2.34 (my best) a good 60 ft time because it feels a lil slow off the line!?!?

I Hopefully plan on putting on AEM cold air soon and possibly take my cat off i kno that there is a lot of restriction in my cars exhaust so I'll just help it breathe and hopefully gain a couple tenths if not more!

Nobody has answered my ? tho will cooling down the intake manifold after each race eventually cause it to crack?

as far as those who don't believe trust me there are faster times on a stock SVTand i even had the spare in (but like that makes a BIG difference lol)

The SVTF intake manifold is plastic not aluminum.

Good times! At what rpms were you launching?

chris_watkins87 05-31-2005 08:16 AM

usually 4,000 and even if its plastic would it crack from the temp changes???

moving to SVT owners Chat

Pretty good. I was comparing against my slips CLICKY Of course we only have a 1000' track so I had to compare the 1/8 mile times. I think I could take you. [:D] [:o)] [:D] [:o)]
