Tow Hook Placement
Question for the SPEC focus guys...

Benz Club and and Audi have tow points built into the front bumper assemblies.

There is some consideration for all cars participating in their events to have tow hooks placed (if they don't have one from the factory) as a requirement to run.

I did a little research, but I am not clear on the best point to mount the tow hook.

Suggestions? [scratch]

Silly racer, they go in the front of the car and the back. If they are on the sides of the car the tires make an awful noise when towed.

heres a pic from an IMSA GT3 for anyone who's confused

I would say weld something to the bottom of the bumper like where theres no foam to cut away. It should be pretty strong there (its a bumper... lol)

If not then youre gonna have to weld a plate to the frame rail to extend it forward and use that.

Here is what Brian did.

Thanks gang!

Did Brian attach his to the bumper itself through the foam or somewhere else?

Tow strap
This is what we use on our cars

We weld a tab on the front and rear then bolt the tow strap and cut a slot in the rubber bumper.

I used the Safequip straps one mine (the car in egz) photo. For the rear I just ran a bolt with some heavy washers though one of the open holes where the bumper bar mounts. One the front I haven’t quit finalized the location. Right not is hooked to where the radiator attaches to the frame, it’s not the best spot but it did work I had to tow it home last Sunday then I had a short and blew a fuse. I’m going to find a spot on the frame to attach it maybe the tie down points the use for shipping

That’s the same place I mounted my straps,
