Quick question:

Why are the side grills open at the bottom? Most of the stock photos I see online have them closed. The stock side grills look like they have a backing that may come off. Do you think it would fit?

The backing will not fit, we looked into that also. These are reproductions, being open has not reduced my mpg, we did try to get the supplier to make them closed off, but at this time they are not making that version but these are a quality part and with RDC developing a CAI, the open grill may work to our advantage. We will still try to get our supplier to also make the closed in version, but at this time they are not available.

We are also trying to develop our own grills, but it has been a slow process

We should be placing our next order by the end of the month... then normally 30 days later after manufacturing and shipping

Ok here goes, these are the instructions I typed up to install the grills... I include instruction to remove the front bumper cover also (from Ford)

While removing the bumper cover it is not necessary to remove the hood release, just remove the cable from it. (in the directions for the cover is say remove the piece, but since you are using the same bumper cover u dont have to)

after removing the front bumper cover, place it on a soft surface or Body/bumper stand (with soft microfiber towels under bumper) remove each of the OE grills, using a small flat tip screwdriver very gently slide it between the bumper and grill and pry bumper tab back as u push grill out through front, go tab by tab till the grill is removed, Repeat with all 3 grills. Slowly install the new grills aligning them with the slots in the bumper press in till all the tabs are locked in.

On the front of the bumper there is a Plastic impact strip clipped into the bumper, it has the lower air duct screwed into the bumper also, you will need to remove the 2 screws and then remove the bumper impact piece. the outer pieces (circled on the image) will need to be cut off. follow the lines on the image. These outer part will hit the grill if not removed. You may also want to paint your metal bumper black as a small edge of it will show a little in the grill opening. reinstall the impact beam and put the 2 screws back in holding the lower air duct. inspectall and reinstall bumper. if the cut was done correctly, the bumper will fit back in place no problem.

paint or plastidip the front metal bumper. plastidip is safer than spray paint for those worried about over-spray.
