TRACK: my cobalts 1/8 times

ok, welll i went to test and tune last night. definately not as cool as street legal thursday lol....there were just a bunch of dragsters and bikes there. however there was some chic in a stock toyota avalon, 02 or so mustang v6 running 11.0, an 05 civic running 11-12s and his friend in a 95 or so civic running the same, so i beat them all.
here are all my runs(didnt get many because they let all the bikes and dragsters cut in line half the time, so my wait was like 20 minutes each time...pissed me off.

now remember, i'm still new to racing a standard so i gotta get my launches and shifts down before i run better numbers. and i have some big ol 17''s so that might have slowed me down, but my car has NO options on it, no floormats, manual windows/locks so it probably weighs around 2700

first run was against some z28...i didnt choose for him to be next to me lol! launched at 2k rpms
r/t .203
60 2.599
330 7.184
mph 51
1/8 10.842
mph 66.30

my focus usually runs 10.8 at 63 mph..how does that work lol?

then i missed third on my second run..11.136

ok i'll just say all the actual 1/8 times i ran, 10.700, 10.673, 10.918, 10.760

well its for sure faster than my focus...and i'm not done learning.

my second best run, for some reason, had the best 60', launched at 4k rpms:
rt .260
60' 2.410
330 6.999
mph 50.72
1/8 10.700
mph 65.48

my best run of the day, launched at 3k rpms
rt .188
60' 2.467
330 7.010
mph 51.29
1/8 10.673
mph 66.08

I just cant grasp 1/8th mile tracks. Please tell them to double the length of their track...

lol. i dont know of any 1/4s near my town. i'd be kinda scared going down something that long..

MightyMouse 09-23-2006 01:19 AM

those r/t are great! the 1/8 just isent made for our though. alot of cars actually :o)

TriniZX3 09-23-2006 02:38 AM

my atx runs 10.5 in the 1/8th with a sound system in the back

TriniZX3 09-23-2006 02:39 AM

great r/ts though

yeah i'm still learning my launch..and i didnt try airing out my tires a little someone said that helps a lot. and yeah, i've gotten pretty good at r/t. i've actually -physically- beaten somebody who had a better 1/8 time than me, just because i got the quick r/t and he had like a 2.something r/t

Kicknzx3 09-24-2006 01:45 AM

those 17's are killing you man. go grab a set of steelies for the track. which 1/8th did u go to? i figured u would run 10.50's with a good launch...so im pretty damn close.

i think you need to gut her :) ...losing that airbox and picking up an intake doesn't hurt either. maybe give you my modified ss cat-back and install it lil time from now after i get the new exhaust. then once a tune finally comes out like hp's...watch the times drop.

not a bad trap speed. my truck would trap 10.0-10.2's at 67-69mph...so that def isn't bad

nomoreavril 09-24-2006 02:35 AM

you know, i actually still have all of my steelies from my old cobalt in my garage. no tires for them though. possibly get some slicks or something? i probably wouldnt know how to use them properly lol.

i went to kennedale. i'll probably go again wednesday, try lowering the pressure in my tires a tad since i didnt do that last time, see if i can get my 60' down a smidge. i'm sure i could hit 10.4 at least. still new to 5 speeds.
