SVT 5Door in G-Stock
I currently am driving an 04 RX-8 in B-Stock and with the latest recall I am really think of ditching the 8 and picking up a 04 SVT 5Door. My question is how competitive would I be in G-Stock with new ajustable dampers, catback, v710, front sway. If there is a different route to go let me know.
Thanks for everyones help. |
V6focus drives a 5 door svt in autox sometimes and they handle very well. It is what they are good at. Also train fan has his well set-up and takes it to selected roadrace events and does quite well ( it has a Powerworks blower ). There are a few others on here as well.

you would get beat by a well driven mini cooper S, but then again everyone does. you would also have to compete with the toyota celica (damn then and their factory adjustable rear camber).
other than that, you'll be fine. |
The SVT doesn't stand a chance in GS on a national level, but it can hold its own localy.
I used to run mine in GS, but moved to STS last season. |
Now with my car, I would be in STS right? (SVT suspension swap, SVT crossmember + rear swaybar, intake, header, exaust, cams,..etc).
|
^ i think that is SM or SP... i can't be 100% sure though.
bangadrum5, with those mods you won't be in the G-stock class. STS i think. hmmmm.... |
Everything he listed would keep him in GS. The only thing I am not certain about is the front sway.
|
Lucky for him then the SVT doesnt really need a bigger front sway. I cant help but wonder, maybe thats a hold over from competitive drivng in a RWD?
We dont have trouble keeping the rear planted so much as the problem IS the rear stays planted longer than the front, if you let it. |
^^I actually don't think that that's accurate. I think that the MCS is an exceptionally tough competitor, but they dominate the class because they are simply so prevalent. With the right setup, and the right driver, I think that an SVTF can be a serious national-level competitor. If nothing else, you could do just great Regionally and in Division.
