autoX: i need to work on my driving

so this past sunday, i went to an autocross track with my room mate who i always go with, but his car (v-tec swapped '92 prelude) got hit by a moving truck while parked, so i told him he could co-drive the focus. Now i know that he is a better driver than me because he has been into cars/driving since he was 16 and i've just gotten into it in the past year or 2.... i've always loved driving but this is the first car i've modded/raced.

So anyways, the first heat we ride with each other, so we can see each other style and all that jazz. And the first runs we are about even with 59.xxx seconds each. Next run he gets a 57.xxx and demolish a cone. He ends up with a 55.3xx as his best time and i end up with a 57.0xx. FTD, was a 49.xxx and the winner in my class had a 52.xxx.

Moral of the story is he is a better driver than me, but i'm happy that my car, which is still running on the stock A/S tires held up pretty well. Now i just gotta work on my driving skills.

Practice practice practice.... Had fun though, didn't you?

i hear you on that one carrera, and of course i had fun, nothing is stopping me from racing, except that i'm going away from a little bit soon. This is only my first season, so i know i will only get better, and i think i am going to do evo school next year (i dont know if that's a nation thing, but it's a driving skills school type of thing).

on a side note, there was a guy driving this nice looking evo, he was in SM class, sounded like he replaced the BOV, but i dont know what else he may have done. Anyways, there were 4 heats and he wound up leaving after the first heat, because he was doing terribly. His times were in the low 60's, in an evo, i understand that's embarrassing but if it was his first time, you gotta fight through that, and just try to learn something.... maybe see if someone can give him pointers.

i think the one around here is either 200 or 300.

for me it was $225 a day, which is a ridiculous deal for what you get in return.
