TRACK: V-dub in za house? Smoked it...

While I was at the track, I got placed with a 2day old 2006 VW GTI Mk5 (the auto one with the shift paddles)

I guess it did ok for a stock vehicle, but considering it's turbo'd I wasn't THAT impressed.

Here's the slip,( I'm car number 6650)

That's just about a stock SVT's time, he did worse the second time (ran him twice)

I'd be a bit dissapointed if I spent 21k (or more) for that car and got those types of times.

It was cool looking though... exactly like the one in the commercials (candy white I guess they call it)

nice kill man good numbers!

Crimson 04-12-2006 11:11 PM

Very nice. I think it's a cool car and it probably has a lot of potential.

To think, I wanted one. Nice kill. I guess even the DSG tranny isn't perfect seeing how 1/4 mile sucks when he ran against you.

Oh heck yeah... If he spends a few bucks on mods, it'll be a contender. I'm just not to impressed with the stock numbers.

I thought the whole point of the 'German Engineering in za howze' ad campaign was 'there is no need to mod'

chip one and it has ALOT of potential

Other thing I noticed right off is a 2.4x 60' time. If he had the DSG, I think he's feeling the lack of launch control, cause thats terrible even by SVT standards. Using the rule of thumb, thats a high 14's run with even a decent launch, which is alright, given the high weight.

^ thats what im thinkin..from the looks of the time doesnt look like his turbo fully kicked in till 1000', and by his trap speed it looks like he has alot of top end cuz he beat me by 3mph but i still have a better quarter than him..nice cars, but as many have already stated, boxed ones were better, slower, but better, if he woulda power braked it or gone into neutral and then slam it into drive off the line that woulda helped the turbo spool up a bit, but not good for the car
