Oil pressure gauge install

1) Locate your oil pressure sensor. It is about 2-3" above your oil filter.
2)Unscrew it and thread in a 1/4"x 2" brass or galvanized nipple. Then thread on a similar tee. Make sure you use teflon tape or virgin teflon sealer on the threads.
3) Thread your sensor and then your compression fitting into your ends of the tee. Again, thread sealer.
4) Route your gauge tubing into the car wherever you want to mount it. Mine is mounted in the dash above the ashtray, but most guys go with a gauge pod. I went for stealth.
5) Wire up to your running lights so the gauge is illuminated only at night. I want off the downside of the fuse. There's a clip you can get at Radio Shack that fits on the blade of the fuse and slides in with the fuse. Then on the other end it had a spade plug connector. Done. works great.
6) Mount your gauge and run her and check for leaks.

Don't be suprised if you hit 100+# of oil pressure when she's cold. It'll settle down after you get her warmed up. Just like a woman. I peg my Ford Racing gauge at 100# just pulling into traffic when she's cold.

Another place you can use for an oil source is located right above the starter in the block. There is a allen-headed plug you can take out and screw the 1/4" fitting in, without using any tees. I use this location for my turbo oil feed.[8D]

so it is the same then?

Well, I'm not so sure about that. I haven't seen a close-up of that same area on an SPI engine before so I couldn't say. Maybe one of the SPI guru's could answer that.

Cheers!
