Tried out the CG-Lock
Just got one of these for AutoCrossing, and put it to the test on Sunday at our first event of the season.

I just ordered directly from them online, though you can find them at other suppliers if you search.
But, with their free shipping offer this month, it was more economical to get it from them anyway.
Worked very well if I do say so myself.[thumb]
The added restraint and resultant control of the car is very noticable.
I'm not ready to slap in a full race harness at the moment, so this was a great alternative.
Install took about 3 minutes.
I've been driving with it back and forth to work, but I finally took it back off last night.
It was just a bit awkward to use for everday driving, even with the lock-clip removed.
Mainly, the extra weight won't let the belt retract quickly enough when you take it off.
I kept whacking the door and window with it.
No problem, as I mentioned, it installs quickly.

IMHO, well worth it.
But it doesn't lock the shoulder belt.
With the svt stock belt, you can lock the shoulder belt and lap belt. Just give it a quick tug right above your shoulder, then rotate your seat forward. Helps if you rotated it backwards to start.
I did this for awhile with great success then I bought the schroth rally 3.
Whoa I thought we had the double fold seat belts...hmm might be a good investment for the track its kind of expensive though...
As soon as I rolled the car forward, the seatbelt would loosen right back up.
What I was doing, that worked semi-effectively, (though not very safe),
is to buckle the belt, then while holding both lap and shoulder portions tight at the buckle,
un-buckle it, give it a full twist, and buckle it back up again.
If you hit something with the belt twisted like that though...ouch.
Well I'll be danged, fucos...
I had tried what you explained before, but it didn't work.
Well, tried again last night on the way home, and voila, mega hold from the seatbelt. [thumb]
I was probably not pulling hard enough, or didn't have the seat back far enough to start with.
Man, that works great!
I will probably still keep the CG-Lock though, and make sure I've locked the shoulder portion as well.
^^^ I'll have to give that a try at my next Autocross event. At my first event, I just tried to pull the seatbelt as tight as I could make it. I didn't think about tugging on it to make it lock in place then moving my seat forward. We'll see how much it makes a difference for me on the track [thumb]
Just to clarify...
The seat bottom stays in place.
You tilt the seat back way down-rearwards,
give the belt a HARD tug, keep holding the belt in tension,
then crank the seat back up to your desired driving position.
It took me a few tries to get it exactly where I wanted once tightened.
As mentioned, I do still like that CG-Lock, but this is sure a less expensive alternative.[;)]
Hey, I never said it was easy. The quicker the tug the better. Also, if you find yourself riding shotgun, pull the seatbelt all the way out and then let it retract.
I played with one of those out at SEMA and thought it was a neat idea...it worked pretty well..
Back from the dead...
Well, the CG-LOCK only lasted me 5 events, and then the little "thumb" lever popped off,
and little parts went flying all over the place.
I found them all, and tried fixing it myself, but it's hosed.
I'll add, out of the 4-6 people that have used them in our Region, 1/2 have had the same problem I did.
I give it a 10 for holding power....and a 1 for engineering.[mad]
And, a 1 for customer service.
I've had it sitting on the dining room table for months because it's far too much hassle to send it back.
Too much paperwork, and they never even sent me a receipt...
which is required for a replacement or refund.
I think I'll just chalk it up to a $40 "lesson learned". [confused]
