Drag Racing Times Question

Ok, I'm checking out this drag strip about 30 miles from me. These are the times they have posted for winning the last street import event.

Street IMPORT $25 Entry sponsored by Polk Performance

Winner: Kris Lingo,Russellville Neon .926 12.05@86mph $200

Runner Up: Dustin McManis, Conway Del Sol .958 12.03@87mph $100

Semi: Amanda Mitchell, Cabot Prelude .738 12.75@78mph

Now I'm certain this is an 1/8 mile track. So here's where I'm confused. 86 mph seems really fast in the 1/8th but 12.05 seconds seems kind of slow in the 1/8th, especially if you are crossing the 1/8th mile line at 86 mph. What gives?

UPDATE

ok, I found out this is a 1000' track and not an 1/8 mile, so I guess those times make more sense now.

How do you think my completely stock SVT would fair against those times?

I'd say if you were a really good driver you might be able to edge out the prelude.
Ive never ran on a 1000 ft track before but those times seem pretty darn good for a neon, del sol and prelude. I'd bet you can get into the high 12's if you have some practice with launching.

that's kind of what I thought

since this is a "no power adders" class on radials, what kind of bolt ons does that neon have to be running that quick?

The neon is probably a stock SRT-4 or something, that was just labeled neon (cause thats what it is). The del sol on the other hand, must have an engine swap of somekind in order to run that time (very low 14 sec. 1/4).

By the tracks rules you are not suppose to have turbo or s/c or nitrous in this class. I talked to the guy on the phone and he said they check - bolt ons are ok.

oh wow then. The neon is probably a built up drag car then. Ive never seen an n/a neon run that fast of a time. Must have the works done to his car.

Hey Frush the Prelude didn't get a cash prize, he is not who I am aiming to beat.
