Replacing Rear Drum Brakes with Disc Brakes

OK, I want to replace my rear drum brakes in my 2006 Focus ZX3 SES with disc brakes from a 2006-2007 Focus ST. Anybody know how expensive this would be or if it's possible?

Oops, can a moderator move this to the Suspension & Brakes Forum, I hate repeating myself.

IF you do it yourself Just the parts... If not it'll cost you. Conversions cost a bit but are well worth. I wouldn't do it unless you plan on putting a super charger on that sucker. Sure its nice but better things to put money into.

Moved to the brake and suspension area

1. Yeah its possible alot of people have done it.
2. It depends if you wanto get new or used. There is a couple set ups in the bst right now, i think there around 250 300. Itll be way more$$ for it new cause you'd have to piece together all the parts needed separately.

Here's a link of a how to if you haven't found one yet.

no superchargers for duratecs unfortunately...

to the op, piecing the setup together used is what i would recommend. Any of the focus's with AdvanceTrak or the SVT rear brakes would work as well, the rear discs would work from any years up to '07 (dont think any 08-11 came with rear discs, they would work if they did though.)

Dont forget to grab the parking/hand brake cable too, cant reuse the drum cable for that. You disconnect the cable under the car near where your center console would be.

Used is what I did as well, only thing I would get new would be the hubs unless there in really good condition. Oh if your wondering what's the differents between them, its the bracket the Svt one will let you have a slightly bigger rotor.

Just remember for the disk in the back to fit if its from a SVT your rim will have to be 16inches.

It's the front that needs 16" wheels to fit not the rears. Can't recall anyone on here having trouble fitting the rear brake kits with there 15" wheels, but numerous for the fronts lol. Only a handful of 15" wheels fit the fronts.

Ooo thanks for the heads up! I thought it applied for both. Sorry for the bad intel.

Why bother to go to all the expense, time and trouble to do this? Unless the car is going to be pushed all out on a race track, there's not much of an advantage to doing this.
