shes coming back to life

well after chasing a severe miss fire on my svt i concluded it wasn't the basics after changing plugs wires coil coil pig tail etc, so i decided to pull her in the shop and diagnose needless to say i dropped a cylinder, so i pulled the head and sent it away to a local machine shop, everything checked out ok for the mileage so i proceeded to pull the motor and get in contact with turbotom.

After tom had disassembled the motor i had become a victim of failed ring lands at a mileage of 90k i decided to have the whole motor rebuilt and go with his tune to keep an svtf alive i figure ill share a few pictures with you guys please enjoy

The engine is still a stock svt motor but i did a few things to spruce up the look under the hood, i ceramic coated the oem header after i cut the heat shield nuts off and smoothed them, powder coated the valve cover ford blue with a wrinkle finish and i took a wire wheel to the trans and it brought the finish to a polished look, in addition to my prior mods, cfm 67mm throttle body, race dog bone mount, steeda short throw etc i went with toms tune and a new clutch while i have it apart.

I still plan on adding an orp or hfc as well as an fs werks stealth kit but overall i definitely didn't half ass in the clean looks department, I encourage anyone to use tom if you have to have an engine redone we did have a few delays as far as back orders and other things but in the long run i was impressed to see my engine arrive painted and oil free, he seemed to take same pride in his work and he is fair on pricing.

SWEET!!! Glad your getting it back on the road. This may be in my near future also....212000 miles and its starting to run a little iffy

lets just hope this time im able to get more than 90k out of her before she dies, i put 45,000 miles on it and when i bought it it had auto lite double plats that are for a regular ztec and apparently any thing other than an oem plug can cause engine damage, possibly thats why she lived a short life

Looks good! Is she up and running? How's it feel?

yzdude250f 08-23-2013 04:26 PM

Not running yet I had to have reconstructive surgery on my left hand this week after an accident but I'm hoping within the next few weeks to have it back on the road

Nice man! Good looking ride too! What was the round about cost of the rebuild if you don't mind sharing?

yzdude250f 08-26-2013 02:16 PM

1735 for the motor including, parts, labor, machine work and assembly , it's all fresh pistons, rods, head, water pump, oil pump bearings etc, 350 in an sct xcal3 with tune, 375 for my luk clutch complete kit thru parts geek new, 120 to blast and ceramic coat my oem header, about 250 in misc things (trans fluid, trans seals, gaskets, flywheel bolts etc.)

Sounds like you'll be ready to rock and roll soon with that bad boy! Doesn't sound too awful bad considering what's gone into it. Looks good cleaned up as well!

Yeah cars super clean I bought it with low miles and its been paid off two years, I have a backup vehicle too, really wasn't a finacial issue because I was working 70 hours a week and making good money on overtime.
