Loud Tires I think, need your input

I just bought a 2012 Ford Focus SE on Friday. When I drive over 50 miles per hour, or on the highway, I hear a humming, whine or howl type noise, which seems to come from the back passenger side. The tires a pretty new and they are Continental Pro's. Could the tire be that loud?

Yes tires can become 'cupped' where each little segment of the tread is curved a bit.
It happens from really endless hours on a freeway, driving on cruise control IMO.
The curve in the tread makes noise.
You can: Rotate the tires. Increase the air pressure..
Turn up the radio..
buy new tires..
Another way is to drive around a LOT* of corners fast.. that will alter the tread blocks some and stop the whine.
*thousands... well at least hundreds.. LOL
If you tend to drive in the city a lot, the problem may wear away.
If all YOU do is straight freeway.. then you are out of luck. (though rotating them might help.)

Would you care to expound on that theory, please?

tires get cupped from too much toe. Get an allignment with as close to zero toe in the rear that they will allow so it doesnt get worse or to another set of tires. Search the forum and online. Plenty of info can be found.

Shouldn't need an alignment on a new car. Probably just the tires.

My last tires were loud but my Kumhos aren't bad for how cheap they are. But these cars are economy cars so they didn't really put much into keeping them quiet like most luxury cars IMO.

It howls from the back passenger side , right ? Got a question...does it howl more on a left turn and quiet down on a right turn ? If so , could be a wheel bearing going out . Just a thought
