Is it normal for cars of today to have bumpers slightly off color than the body?

I just notice this on my Focus a couple weeks ago. The front bumper is slightly darker than the rest of the car. It's easy to see in certain lighting conditions. A buddy at works 2012 Optima has the same issue with his rear bumper. Is this something common?

Plastic painted at a slightly different time / batch / etc can be a bit off sometimes.

So is the rear bumper painted too? ETIS says this:

Front Bumper - Painted Body Colour
Rear Bumper - Body Coloured Plastic

Does that mean it's a molded plastic?

No the rear bumper is not molded in color. It is painted.

In some instances the fascias are painted at another facility or supplier and shipped in assembled modules to the assembly plant.

If you really want to see a difference, wear polarized sunglasses and look at your car on a very bright sunny day.

A painter at a body shop once told me that the flex additive for painting bumper skins--added to the paint so it will flex and not crack--results in a slightly different color with almost every color it's added to. FWIW.

I've noticed SVT orange, I can't for the life of me think of the correct name for that color. Anyways I've noticed they usually have lighter color bumpers than the rest of the car almost all of them are like that. I could never own one that color for that reason. It would just bother me too much.

Great find! They don't mention the additive but otherwise seems like a two page way of saying it's normal.
