i cant believe im asking this question

ok.....haha i feel so dumb right now. here goes.

im going to check my engine for vacuum leaks.....are all vacuum lines rubber? and are all rubber hoses vacuum lines....except well water lines of course.

CotyM 04-21-2013 11:38 AM

no and no, I think at least one vacuum line is actually metal like the EVAP and EGR... and one rubber line is actually for fuel...

ShoOff 04-21-2013 11:50 AM

oh no............. i see this going horribly wrong.

smurfsack 04-21-2013 11:50 AM

From this post that I found by googling your question: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=293323

I found these images:

Now that you know were the vacuum lines begin on your car's intake manifold you can follow them using this routing diagram:

And of course you can always just smoke the lines to find your problem:

You showed a pic of the wrong intake. Vacuum lines can be made of anything, metal, plastic, rubber. Any hollow tube running to the intake is a suspect vac line.
