FSwerks header Question
 
Finished Installing an FSWERKS header today on a friends car, its touching on the steering rack.... anyone have or hear of this problem before?

no, not yet, its touching the heat shield over the steering rack and pressing against the steel line on the rack.i cant figure it out.

That is strange. I'd be getting in contact with FSwerks about it. Their stuff usually fits perfectly without any issues. I wonder if you got a slightly tweaked one. The one I had on my Focus fit perfectly.

Mine is close also. Check your dogbone= lower motor mount. I'd be adding a vf engineering dogbone. See if you can move the line.

will do, I thought about removing that heat shield around the steering rack, but I don't think that would be the smartest thing.

I would be highly suspect of any FSWerks products. At 51K miles, I tore a trans engine mount and developed a slight vibration at idle. I installed an FSWerks poly dogbone and both of the other mounts using OEM replacements. Still had vibrations at idle, bouncing the steering wheel badly most of the time, and shifting was different (not downshifting at normal points). Spent a couple weeks looking for codes and chasing sensors, but nothing was found and swapping IAC's and such made no difference. Finally took it to local Ford house. They confirmed no codes and all sensors and systems were operating well within range. On very rare occassions they had seen this before and suspected the engine was misaligned. Reluctantly I gave the ok to go measure it. Sure enough it was misaligned and the 2 OEM mounts were torn, after only about 250 miles. When they replaced the 2 mounts the vibration continued and they found the engine misaligned again. They swapped the FSWerks poly dog bone mount with a Ford OEM and it ran smooth and stayed aligned. Swapped the poly back and it misaligned and vibrated badly again. Running 3 OEMs now and just like new. FSWerks indicated they did not believe it and actually got rude and short when I discussed the situation with them and asked to return the poly dogbone. They referred to their "red" disclaimer that the poly mount will vibrate more than OEM mounts. I found it hard to believe but hard measurements of mislignment anytime the poly was installed and the vast difference in the idle tells the story. FSWerks did not provide any interest in the probelm, did not want to see the part in question, and would not consider a return or refund. Needless to say I am done with FSWerks. No doubt their product is good for a "race" environment where vibration and potential misalignment and degradation is not a concern. Hopefuilly there are some better options out there for the daily driver.

What brand was the poly dogbone from fwerk's did you get? Yes a poly mount on any motor your going to have vibebrations at idle. I have a vf engineering dogbone & trans mount & the steering wheel vibebrates at idle. CFM & Massive performance also have replacement mounts also.
