Clutch noise question

Figured I better ask this here first (before I take it to the dealership):

When I start the car (2010 SE) and it's cold out (it's WI - so it IS cold), it starts and sounds fine...until the moment I let my foot off the clutch pedal (in neutral). Then this high pitch whine-y type of noise starts.

It only last for a min or two and seems to dissipate as the RPM's idle down (and car warms up). It does not make the noise when warmed up.

What is it/could it be?
Start of bad slave cylinder on clutch?
Something else?

I only have 3 months of bumper to bumper warranty left, would like it to be fixed before then IF this an issue. Maybe it is common sound on the Focus, but I do not remember my last one making this noise.

Take it in while you still have a warranty.

Hi DerrekForreal,

I recommend making an appointment so your dealership can diagnose your vehicle. They'll be in the best position to inspect your vehicle. Keep us posted on how the appointment goes.

Thanks for the replies. I will make the appointment at the Dealership.

Brought car in, dealer claims they cannot hear any noise (really?!). I hear it every morning I start the car - and the noise has been identified by others at the throw out bearing. Which is apparently not an uncommon issue with this car.

I also hear a metal on metal squeaking/rubbing noise from the suspension on bumpy/rough roads (it makes the noise while driving in the dealership lot - I heard it); yet they cannot seem to hear this noise either.

I asked them to keep it an additional day and listen for the clutch noise again this morning. I also told them I would take them for a ride and point out the suspension noise.

Very frustrating - as I do not have the best hearing, and can easily hear both of these noises - why the dealership cannot is beyond me. Mostly I feel like they just don't want to make any repairs under warranty.

Hopefully they call back today with better news.

Dealership called today, "Cannot hear any noise, had three people look at it, possible (the weather) is too warm to hear it".

When I asked what will happen the next winter when the throw out bearing is making noise in the cold weather again, but my warranty is expired, the reply was: "did you buy an extended warranty?" Me: "No" Dealership: "you should".

Seriously? Trying to sell me something when instead you should be fixing my car? Not impressed, not at all.

Also not impressed that the 'loaner car' tried to kill me [mad] (2012 Focus SFE, Automatic). I was trying to pull out into traffic, stepped on the gas pedal, car revs up to 3500 rpm's, goes nowhere...as soon as I let off the gas pedal, it slammed into gear and threw me into traffic...I had to immediately slam on the brake to avoid hitting anyone. (This is on top of the fact that it constantly shifts when driving, jerks & bucks when in reverse (or going slow forward), etc. I can understand why anyone with a new automatic transmission is SO pi$$ed off!)

Guess I will schedule another appointment for the EXACT same issues when I go pick the car up later. My plan is to keep bringing it in until the issue is resolved. (It sucks to do, as the dealership is 30 min each way - 1 hour round trip). I was really hoping for better customer service from Ford.

Well, clutch noise is still happening (made same noise yesterday morning) made another appointment at dealership.

Here's hoping they give me a mechanic who can hear [confused]
