Radio Turns off Intermittenly
 

In my 2001 Focus SE, stock radio and speakers, the radio and clock display will shut off from time to time, randomly. Is this likely a problem with the radio or something else? I don't see any problems with the fuses.

Also, I don't know if it's related, but the cigarette lighter doesn't work, and when listening to AM stations and pressing the brake pedal, there is a distortion in the sound.

On my 02 stock cassette player would lose the display on occasion. If I remember right it shut off completely. Typically it was after hitting a bump. If your's has it the center preset buttons can be removed and what I did was carefully bend the pins out and cleaned the with rubbing alcohol. Also cleaned the pads on back of the preset buttons. Never had any issues after that.
