Moved' Budget turbo setups
 
Hello everyone! I used to do performance upgrades a lot & the last turbo car that I really done any major mods to was a 02' Eclipse with a stand alone fuel system & all That was 10 years ago.

Now I have a friend with a 2000 ZX3 & he wants to do a turbo using an automatic trans.

I have a lot of questions about what all budget turbo kits or piecing together a setup

Any input is appreciated Thanks Bob

It's easy to piece together a kit. The issue is a tune. As for the auto it will hold ok as long as you keep the power modest. I think around 200whp but I'm not sure.

He wants to turbo a A/T Focus Kona I've got him talked into header,exhaust,intake Etc for now but wants a turbo.

Are there any high stall torque converters for it How much spray will the head gasket hold?

75 shot and the gasket isn't your issue lol. The auto will hold fine. The zetec gains little power from bolt ons so save his money and do a small turbo.

How much shot with a turbo will it hold with a upgrade on the head gasket?
How much heat does it make right there in the front?
Spraying NO2 on the intercooler help any on the Focus? I did this on a Harley Truck & it picked it up a bit

Like he said don't worry about the head gasket it has no factor in how much power you can max out at. Your weakest points are the rods and pistons, then the bolts need to be arp, next would be your fuel delivery/pumps. The cams don't need to be upgraded but can be and the crank doesn't need to be at all. Also if you want to get a better ATX then look here.

Is there a better block that will bolt in for power? If there is we can find one & build it as he drives.
