For a oil change. I wanted to get a general idea of what others are using oil/filter wise. When I owned my Dodge truck, I always used MOPAR oil filter and Mobil 1 synthetic oil. But with my Focus, I'm not sure what I should use. Continue using Mobil 1, or use the Ford Motorcraft oil.

I'm assuming that the Focus uses 5w-20 like most cars now a days. Going to be throwing some SeaFoam in the tank and oil pretty soon as it's about that time. Any feedback would be great. :)

Get the motorcraft 910 filter and the mobil1 syntec oil will be fine, it always is.

It depends on the interval you are going to use. I use a 5K mile interval and just use the Motorcraft filter and semi-syn blend. If you want to do the 10K interval I would probably use the Mobile 1 like you have been doing. The motorcraft semi-syn blend is good oil and it is cheap, that is why I use it.

Pennzoil Platinum & Motorcraft filter.

Whichever synthetic and filter is cheaper that day. 10K intervals.

I am intrigued about this seafoam stuff.

How many miles do you have on your vehicle to mandate the use of this. It seems as though this product is good for older vehicles. Let me know your thoughts!

Furthermore, I have been thinking about an oil change as well. I have 1800 miles on my car but people on here are always talking about all these metal particulates from the break-in period. Can I have some opinions on this? I wouldn't mind doing this since this is my first new vehicle and I want to take care of it properly.

Sea foam is great! I use it after every oil change in all my cars atv's dirtbike jet skis lawn mowers ect. My first car sat for a few years by the previous owner was an older car with a lot of miles ran like crap so I put some seafoam in the tank and vacuum line. Livened the car right up ran smooth. A bit pricy compared to other injector cleaners but it does so much more than that. Highly recommended

OMG, don't get this list started. I am an early oil changer, as are a lot of folks. Some will argue waste of money, maybe so, but I like peace of mind. Yes, there will be plenty of tiny shiny things and maybe a few larger pieces in the first oil that comes out of a new engine. I have seen it first hand over half a dozen times on every new car and motorcycle I have had. Will it damage the engine to go the manufactures first recomended interval of 10K miles, probably not. I just like to get some fresh oil in my new car usually around 1,000 miles maybe less, then I feel better running the crap out of it latter. The manufacture recomended intervals are fine, I just choose to make up my own intervals. Here is an article by someone who may have a clue, as opposed to some who will rant here.

You are welcome, that guy is a little anal, I would do the 20-50 miler, but usually wait a little longer and just do it once. You should be fine. I just don't get some people waiting 10K miles just because Ford says you can?
