Well if that isn't a slap in the face to ST owners.

I was just watching Motor Week and saw this.

One of the Focus biggest competitors.

A Elantra Coupe. Bet yea they sell like hot cakes too, who says this is the 21st century and the market isn't there.

Yeah, I saw the new commercial, they now have the sedan, coupe and hatch .

TheGlassMaker 02-17-2013 11:43 AM

Yea my mother in-law has the sedan. I honestly don't like it.

Don't understand the premise of this thread.
How does the existence of Hyundai cars slap ST owners in the face?

HilloNative 02-17-2013 12:40 PM

I think he meant that because we don't have a 2 door focus anymore.

we had one of these show up at our car show last year...pretty neat little car. Too bad that little engine is so piddly at 148 HP...[limp]

A thread about this was mentioned months ago. Give it time though, knowing our luck Hyundai will probably put a turbo in it somewhere down the line.

Please, nowhere near the price range regardless of the number of doors. The Elantra starts like $7k less than an ST. It's like comparing the V6 Genesis coupe to the ST. It's RWD vs FWD, so not much of a comparison. There's a price difference there too- though not as much. If you're going to compare something, compare it to the new Beetle GSR or something- that has 2 doors, and is a performance model costing about the same as a loaded ST.

And that's going to be a VERY LIMITED PRODUCTION model, with only 3500 hundred scheduled to be produced-worldwide. I actually considered getting a Beetle before buying my Abarth. The Abarth was cheaper in sales price, fuel costs and insurance rates.

that grill is hideous.... my coupe > Elantra coupe. i wish suspension pieces in these newer Hyundai's didn't bend so easily.... a car that came in from a body shop for an alignment and a whole new right front suspension ended up needing a new long/short block because the carrier bearing bracket piece for the CV axle snapped off of the block. but Kudos to Hyundai for realizing not EVERYONE wants an extra set of doors behind the front doors on their cars regardless if they sell better (cough*Ford*cough). hopefully this will be enough to prompt Ford to bring back the coupe or "ZX3".... even though he don't go by the "ZX" moniker anymore.
