how easy is it to change the bushings in my passenger mount and upper trans mount to poly mounts?

mine need to be changed, i recently changed my dogbone, and i feel like that'll wear out faster with the other 2 mounts being bad aswell seeing that they are stock with 171000.

i would rather change the bushings out but if its cheaper than buying the whole mount, id rather do that

Getting them in and out isnt very difficult, just put a jack under your engine to hold it up while you work on them

Pressing the new bushings in however is a bit difficult. you may need some sort of press to do it.

From our vendor Central Florida Motorsports.

They warn you that poly mounts will cause vibration and are race only, however, I have poly mounts on my engine and I don't think the vibrations are all that bad. Yes, it does vibrate at idle, but as long as you do the mount installation correctly- it's not horrible. As soon as you give the car some gas- no more vibration. Acceleration is more immediate.

would a jack under the transmission be able to hold the engine in place while i would do the upper trans mount then followed by the passenger mount?

i'm not worried about vibrations, i like the stiff ride my car already has and the vibrations won't affect me

Jack under the trans for the trans mount, and under the oil pan for the front engine (passenger side) mount. Just make sure that you are not putting your mount bolt in a bind when tightening. You will damage things if you pull the motor up to the mount with the bolt(s).

isn't it bad to lift the engine by putting a jack on the oil pan? wouldn't that crush it and make me get a new oil pan??

You use a block of wood to span the oil pan so the weight is distributed on the sides. That's given in every manual. I prefer plywood myself, but if your jack's saddle is big enough then you can use a 2x4. You should do the same thing for the transmission- it is not wise to jack up on cast aluminum without having wood in there to absorb the hardness of the saddle.

alright alright sounds good thanks. i don't have to jack up the engine/trans too much right? just enough so its supported? and its only like what 2 bolts for the passenger and then 4? for the upper trans?
