how to stop damp rear passenger carpets

Hey everyone was looking for some advice. My ford focus 2004 mk 1 has got damp rear carpets I also had this problem in theboot. When I took it to the garage the guy said he resealed it and since then the boot has been bone dry amd the carpets too. But recently the carpet behind the driver and the passenger is really damp. Any thoughts on where the water could be coming from and how to fix it ? Thanks

On some cars this can be associated with a clogged air conditioning drain. Do you have a sunroof? Looks like you are from the U.K. so wouldn't figure you would have ac on this time of year. I heard cars from your side of the pond tend to have rust, how is your floor pan, frame rails and weather stripping?

If you have a sunroof I believe some of the drain hoses run toward the rear passenger area.

There is a good chance it is coming from the drain plugs in the floor-pan. Jack the car up(use jackstands)and spray rubberized under-coating on them and around them. Allow 24 hrs to dry. It should solve the issue. The same goes for the boot and in the front footwells. There is another place that is prone to leakage in the boot as well. But you seem to have that issue licked.

Yeah i took it to the garage and he stripped the carpet and sprayed water from the outside turns out when u open the door the water comes in. so he drilled a small hole under the carpet for the water to escape. so far everything is dry now.
thanks for the advice guys
