ABS rear hub on non abs car?

I have a 2002 ZX3 with rear drums. These are shot since the last brake job done left the shoes rubbing constantly. Maybe weak internals. Anyway I want to convert to disc brakes in the rear. Specifically the ST rears so I won't have to do a front upgrade. My reasons are because they are much easier to work on and they look tons better. Not necessarily for performance. I work at O'reilly Auto Parts and can get most of the parts pretty cheap. What I need to know is if I can put a rear hub equipped for ABS on a my car which has none. Please help! Tired of rubbing drums!!

That's great to know!

Look in the O'Reilly catalogs closer, on many cars they only list the ABS part now, it saves one half of the warehouse space and they often charge more for the one part............do yourself a favor and use the name brand Precision or BCA hub instead of Masterpro, I've seen Masterpro 'lifetime warranty' parts that went bad in one day, there was no grease inside the cheap Chinese bearing. Many of them spit their guts out in less than a year.

I think the part I found was dorman if I'm not mistaken. I don't think we carry that in the master pro brand and dorman is our rare parts supplier

Only a few aftermarket OE brands I trust and Dorman is one of them. And please use Timken bearings [thumb]

Not big on Dorman OEM replacement parts, we took back more of theirs for defects than any other brand, abysmal quality control. Their plastic cracks simply looking at it, the lifetime front suspension parts last maybe 1 year, their rubber can be easily torn by two fingers, it doesn't even begin to stretch. Every coolant recovery tank we sold came back blown out or popped seam weld, virtually every one. Thermostats that are stuck open out of the box, more mis-machined parts than you can shake a stick at, the list goes on and on........

The Precision or BCA are good parts, they never came back provided someone competent installed them.

So I have a few options I guess lol. Do I have to change the spindle stub too or does the disk hub press directly onto the one I have for drums?
