Anyway wanted to know what kind of things i should be checking for damage behind the outer body work. here are some photos. not great camera phone and at night

Hopefully it's all Cosmetic that hat it looks like from pics. Hopefully there is no frame damage. Good luck an hopefully your comes back fast.

damn.. that sucks...it does look pretty bad but hopefully it's all cosmetic as you were struck on the corner where there's lots of 'crush' space... good luck...
I'd ck for clearance for suspension bits and wheel space as well as the 'shocks' for the bumper assm'bly. Does the hatch latch properly?

indystar 01-25-2013 09:39 AM

yeah hatch latches fine. review camera still working but no sensor on the crashed side obv

After repairs, take the car for an alignment to verify that the suspension mounting points weren't affected.

It looks like you may have lucked out, it should all be cosmetic. Like others said, have the suspension checked. I'd also check the alignment just to be safe since you were hit. A bad alignment can end up costing you a lot more down the road.

Just a thought let the insurance adjuster do there job and nit pick everything you disagree with. I hope you were not injured. The damage does look cosmetic at first but you could have damage to your suspension since it looks like they hit the rear wheel. Take lots of photos for you records.

Be sure to have them check the suspension I got tapped in one of my old cars at about 5-10 mph. No discernable damage drove fine barely a scratch. A couple of weeks later I went for an oil change and found out tie rods and endlinks needed to be repaired.

Just got mine back from the body shop, 5 day repair for almost that exact same hit on my sedan. $2800 repair and its more then just the outer bumper cover. id be looking for structural damage of the main body

Let the insurance adjuster and bodyshop do their thing. *You* shouldn't be checking anything, unless you're a certified mechanic (in which case you wouldn't be asking an internet forum what to look for).

Take it in, get it all fixed up, and make sure they look at the suspension and alignment. Don't listen to everybody here saying "It looks all cosmetic", because there's no way to tell from a few pictures.
