SVT Cranks but no Start
 

So my SVT Focus has had intermittent starting problems for a while now and now it just keeps cranking and wont start. Initially it would be hard to start sometimes and take a few tries but it would start. The car would also start and stay revved at around 4k rpms for a little bit until I drove around some. Also it would die at low RPMs once in a while while driving then I would have to start the car again. This would happen every so often but then it would go away. However it happened again 2 days ago and it took a while longer but it started. It was incident free last night and after I replaced the front O2 sensor today it won't start. I can hear the fuel pump come on but it just keeps cranking but won't start. I checked for spark and there was none. The coil pack, wire, and plugs have all been replaced within 9 months with all motor-craft parts. The wiring for the crank position sensor was fried so I replaced it but still no spark. There is also no codes. Any ideas of what else to check? Crankshaft Position Sensor? Camshaft Position sensor?

check the wiring to the coil. not just at the plug, but all the way down into the loom on top of the tranny. fought this with a friends, replaced the coil wiring pigtail ($14 through ford) and still couldnt get the thing to act right or start all the time, or even stay running. ended up the wiring for the coil pigtail was messed up further down in the loom by about 5" than we had spliced.
first check your voltage at the plug and jiggle the wiring around to see if there is anything. if you don;t have voltage check the usual culprits first,,, fuses, etc. then start hunting down wiring.

Crankshaft sensor. Can you check for codes?

Already replaced it and nothing happened. And I checked for codes and none came up. I'm getting fuel though because I can smell it when I turn it over

That doesnt mean you have enough fuel , need to check fuel psi and then spark at the plugs

When you replaced the coil pack, did you inspect the plug-in connector? Pull on the wires going to the coil pack. Sometimes those are damaged. Also check back about a foot or so and look in the harness for damaged wires. I'd also check anywhere in that wiring loom that is near something hot like the EGR feed tube. We've had a few SVT owners that found damaged coil wiring back about 2' from the coil, but most of the time the wires will simply pull out of the connector. If that's the case, then you need a new pigtail. Any Ford dealer can get you the part.
